Law Council of Australia

The Law Council of Australia represents the legal profession at the national level; speaks on behalf of its Constituent Bodies on federal, national, and international issues; promotes and defends the rule of law; and promotes the administration of justice, access to justice and general improvement of the law.
The Law Council advises governments, courts, and federal agencies on ways in which the law and the justice system can be improved for the benefit of the community.
The Law Council also represents the Australian legal profession overseas, and maintains close relationships with legal professional bodies throughout the world. The Law Council was established in 1933, and represents its Constituent Bodies: 16 Australian State and Territory law societies and bar associations, and Law Firms Australia.

The Bar Association of India was founded on 8th August, 1959. The history of the Bar Association of India goes back to 1951 when the Government of India appointed the All India Bar Committee to enquire into the feasibility and desirability of constituting a unified Bar in India. The said committee was headed by Hon’ble Mr. Justice S.R. Das, who later became the Chief Justice of India.
The Association was formally inaugurated on 2nd April 1960 by the then President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, in the august presence of the then Vice President of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the then Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Chief Justice of India Mr. Justice S. R. Das, Law Officers of India, all the Advocate Generals and many other stalwarts of the profession including Presidents of various High Court Bar Associations, whose names are held in high esteem even today. Mr. M.C. Setalvad, the first Attorney-General of India was the Founder President of the Association.
The Association represents Indian Legal Profession in all the major International Organisations of legal professionals, including the International Bar Association (IBA), Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA), Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA), The Law Association for Asia and the Pacific (LAWASIA), Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA), BRICS Legal Forum and International Legal Assistance Consortium (ILAC). The representatives/nominees of BAI have been elected to important positions in these Associations, including to the post of Presidents in the past and presently.

The Korean Bar Association (KBA), founded in 1952, is the statutory organization representing all licensed attorneys in the Republic of Korea. With a membership exceeding 36,000, the KBA is committed to upholding the rule of law, safeguarding fundamental rights, and advancing the legal profession both domestically and globally. The KBA plays an active role in legislative advocacy, legal reform, and public interest law, while also fostering international collaboration through partnerships with leading legal organisations such as LAWASIA.
As a strong supporter of alternative dispute resolution, the KBA continues to promote diverse and effective methods of dispute settlement in Korea and across jurisdictions. The Association regularly participates in international conferences and dialogues to contribute to the development of a fair, efficient, and accessible global justice system.

The College of Law in the Australian legal profession is a name well known. Not only because we’ve been at the forefront of practice based legal education since 1974, but also that our mission has never faltered. A mission to break with convention, to deliver innovative, flexible education and training to create a career in the legal services industry that lasts. What else sets us apart? Well, we focus on real life in practice. Taking the theoretical into the current state of the profession, to provide true relevance and practical learning that’s valuable, from day dot.
With over 50 years serving the legal profession, we occupy a special place. Most lawyers in Australia and New Zealand today start their career with us, undertaking their Practical Legal Training to prepare for admission to practice. We then support lawyers in their careers through continuing professional development and postgraduate programs such as our LLM in Applied Law.
Our aim is to help people succeed as lawyers whatever role they choose to pursue. We want our graduates to be the best they possibly can be and to thrive in the profession. As the legal profession continues to develop we aim to be here to assist in the transition and offer support at every stage of a lawyer’s career.
