Safeguarding the Rule of Law & Human Rights in Myanmar
Myanmar has been facing a rule of law crisis since early February 2021, when the Burmese military declared a state of emergency and took control of the government. The military coup reversed years of slow progress towards democracy, after 50 years of military rule. Over the last two months, hundreds of protestors have been killed by the police and military, almost 40 journalists have been arrested, and many lawyers have disappeared.
This webinar, organised by the Human Rights Section of LAWASIA, brings together leading experts to discuss the impact of the coup and military rule on the rule of law, human rights, environment protection, and business and human rights in Myanmar.
