Access to Justice

during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Access to Justice during the COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 containment measures have caused a near-total shutdown of life in many parts of the world, while the demands of justice persist. Though the impact of these measures is unlikely to abate soon, the increased vulnerabilities are likely to lead to a surge of legal needs. It is also clear that any pathway for recovery must integrate accessible and people-centred justice systems. This situation necessitates a re-imagining of how access to justice, an essential part of all democracies, can be ensured.

In this webinar we will hear from LAWASIA members across different jurisdictions on how the shutdown has impacted access to justice in their jurisdictions, how lawyers and bar associations are adapting to these changes, and what COVID-19 entails for the future of the legal profession.
