Advocacy in Times of Political Change

Advocacy in Times of Political Change

A joint initiative between  the LAWASIA and The German Federal Bar

LAWASIA and BRAK Logos

Lawyers from Myanmar are continuously reporting on challenges to the rule of law. During the past weeks, the professional code for lawyers has been amended to further gain control over the advocacy and undermine its independence. Apart from raising awareness of the situation, we want to offer capacity building for lawyers in Myanmar.

Experts from Europe and Asia will share their experiences and give advice on how to maintain the professional role of lawyers during times of political disruption. We will exchange views on the role of the lawyer in politics, discuss practical solutions that helped lawyers get by and the role of international organisations.
