16th Meeting of the LAWASIA
HR Lawyers' Network
Wednesday 10 September 2025 | Zoom webinar
Advancing Child Justice in the New Crimes Against Humanity Treaty
We are delighted to announce the third edition of the Human Rights Lawyers’ Network Meeting for 2025 –– the 16th Meeting of the LAWASIA Human Rights Lawyers' Network is scheduled for Wednesday, 10th September 2025, online via Zoom.
At this HRLN meeting, we will look into, “Advancing Child Justice in the New Crimes Against Humanity Treaty.” Crimes against humanity remain some of the gravest violations in international law. Yet, despite their widespread occurrence, there is still no international treaty in force dedicated to their prevention and punishment.
Among those most deeply affected are children, who face distinct forms of harm which are often not captured by justice processes. As the international community moves toward the development of a new treaty, this becomes a crucial opportunity to ensure that children’s rights and experiences are fully addressed.
This session will feature a distinguished panel with experts from Human Rights Watch, Child Rights Connect and the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, and Amnesty International. Together, they will explore how the proposed treaty can meaningfully address these gaps and strengthen protections for children.
We invite you to join to collectively reflect on the steps needed to make child protection central to international justice efforts. Please mark your calendars and register your participation today by clicking the link below.
You will also find the full concept note and details of the speaker panel below.
