LAWASIA, like many organisations globally, has experienced significant challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the obstacles we have faced, LAWASIA has continued and will continue to devote itself to fulfilling its guiding principles of promoting the rule of law, access to justice and respect for human rights.

Throughout its history, LAWASIA has taken action over many issues affecting or of concern to lawyers and the profession in the region, using its position as an established and authoritative voice for the legal profession to focus international attention where it might assist. 

With voluntary input from LAWASIA members working through the Human Rights Committee, the ExCo and Council and its member organisations, LAWASIA regularly releases statements, writes letters of intervention, undertakes trial observation and other observer missions.   

It is through collaboration with LAWASIA that individual lawyers and their firms can connect with counterparts across the region and take direct action in a number of areas in defence of human rights and the rule of law.
