Johannes is a founder of AKSET, a firm with more than 25 lawyers. AKSET was founded in 2010. Before AKSET, Johannes was a partner at another prominent law firm in Jakarta, Indonesia. Johannes advises clients in various industries on mergers and acquisitions, financings, and complex transactions. To complement his other practice, Johannes is also widely recognized for his expertise in labor and employment matters, and commercial dispute resolution. Johannes started his practice in 1995. He then practiced in Singapore as an international lawyer between 1996 and 2002.

He was one of the first Indonesian lawyers to work on major cross border transactions in the region, including major restructurings and reorganizations triggered by the Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s. Johannes graduated from Airlangga University in 1994 (Sarjana Hukum degree), and he holds a Magister Hukum degree (Master of Laws) from Gadjah Mada University. He is an advocate licensed to practice in Indonesia and is a certified mediator.

He regularly teaches at law schools or law faculties in universities in Indonesia. He also speaks at seminars and webinars on topics related to Indonesian laws and regulations. Johannes is active in the Indonesia Advocates Association (Perhimpunan Advokat Indonesia or PERADI). In PERADI, he heads the International Relations Section of PERADI.

In the international legal community, Johannes is a member of the International Bar Association and a newly appointed LAWASIA ExCo member.
