Conference Papers

The 7th LAWASIA Labour Law Conference will explore three primary topics:

Topic One: labour law rights of migrant workers including illegal immigrants

Explore the legal status and vulnerability of migrant workers in foreign labour markets. Can the balance between the rights of national workers and migrant workers be met?

Topic Two: China's new labour laws

As the world's largest labour force, China's workforce is the engine driving the country into the centre of the world economic stage. Explore the new labour laws which regulate China's workforce.

Topic Three: practical difficulties in litigating employment issues

Delve into the challenges of litigating employment issues. Litigation is a powerful forum to air grievances and enable disputes to be resolved but are there unnecessary procedural barriers, has information technology made liability issues unduly complex and can litigation be made simpler and less costly?

Speakers from Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailland, Vietnam, New Zealand and Australia will explore these issues, offering a truly regional approach.
