Background & Overview

The LAWASIA Family Law & Family Rights Section was formed for the following reasons:

  1. To establish a vehicle for the free interchange of information between the lawyers of LAWASIA about developments in the area of Family Law, and laws protecting human rights of families and children;

  2. To be an advocate for the human rights of families and children; and

  3. To provide lawyers of the Asia-Pacific region, greater facilities for input in the formation of international treaties and laws relating to families and children.

The Section arranges a biennial Children and the Law Conference which has become a must- attend event for both lawyers and their industry partners in the child justice sector.
