Business Law SectionChair Mr Peter Bartlett Deputy Chair Professor Andrew Terry Deputy Chair Mr Jalalullail Othman In 1994, the LAWASIA, the LAWASIA Executive Committee approved the formation of a Business Law Section in response to the unparalleled economic transformation of the Asia Pacific region and the burgeoning importance of commercial law in this environment. The Section now boasts 10 Standing Committees (interest groups) and has to date, held 7 biennial Business Law conferences dedicated to matters of legal interest in the commercial arena:
Each of these conferences has provided an excellent and inspirational opportunity for business lawyers to meet and air issues of relevance in the context of the learning opportunity offered by the conferences' continuing legal education work programs. The Business Law Section actively contributes to the program of LAWASIA’s annual conference. Membership of the Business Law Section is open to all members of LAWASIA and are entitled to join one section or committee at no charge. In the case of the Business Law Section, members should select one of the section committees. For thoes wishing to join more than one section or committee, a sliding scale of fees applies. For more information on section membership fees please click here Each Standing Committee is chaired by a LAWASIA member with special interest and expertise in that field. The Standing Committee Chairs, along with the Section Chair, Deputy Chair and Secretary form the management backbone of the Business Law Section. This group meets in person annually at LAWASIA Biennial Conferences and Business Law Conferences. |
