The Law Management Section of LAWASIA was launched at the 22nd LAWASIA Conference in Ho Chi Minh City, in November 2009
The aims of the LAWASIA Law Management Section are:
- To promote increased awareness and understanding of law practice management principles and management best practice throughout the region;
- To develop a forum for the exchange of law practice management information and expertise;
- To develop a relationship and to provide a link between law practice management groups and committees of the professional law societies and associations throughout the region.
- To be a reference point for LAWASIA, for LAWASIA countries, for LAWASIA sections and for LAWASIA members on issues pertaining to law practice management
Initiatives:
The Section was responsible for conducting a popular management session at the 22nd LAWASIA Conference, and will again conduct two management sessions at the 23rd LAWASIA Conference in New Delhi on 11-14 November 2010, on ‘Growth Strategies 2015’, and ‘Knowledge Management Strategies for Law Firms’..Click here to download the program for these sessions.

- 20 October 2011- Action at the Front: The evolving face of legal project management, by Pam Woldow (Edge International).
The section conducted this highly successful webinar on 20 October 2011, with Pamela Woldow explaining the basic precepts of Legal Project Management, and detailing how firms are grappling with: the introduction and roll out of LPM initiatives; the training of lawyers and other performers in LPM tools and techniques; and figuring out how to build LPM into their operations. Pamela addressed different approaches adopted, and the pros and cons of each approach.

- 7 March 2011- Why agreeing your fees upfront is easier than you think, by John Chisholm (John Chisholm Consulting- Melbourne).
The section conducted this highly successful webinar on 7 March 2011, with John Chisholm sharing his experiences with firms in Australia, US and the UK which have successfully made the transition to fixed fees. John not only explained why we should all ditch time based costing for value based pricing but, how you can do it under your firm with your clients - and its simpler than many lawyers and consultants would have you believe.
